Just because it’s fall, it doesn’t mean we have to pack up all of our white pieces until next summer. But how? I know it’s past labor day… But I have some tips you can use to keep this color in style! Ready to be a fashion rule-breaker?
#1: Pattern
Adding a pattern, whether a fancy design or simple stripes, will instantly make your all-white outfit more acceptable. Try using dark colors that are in season, such as black or navy, rather than bright colors, such as light pink or yellow. Doing this helps the pattern draw attention away from the white so that it blends in with the fall style.
Kylie Jenner used this tactic pull off a white pantsuit on November 15, long after labor day, which was September 3. The white suit is detailed with vertical pink stripes.
#2: Statement Piece
Add an item of color that will stand out from the rest of your outfit.
With an all-white outfit, such as pants and a top or just a dress, add an accessory or extra clothing item of color. This can be a handbag, jacket or shoes.
If you opt for the all white pantsuit, but it doesn’t have a pattern like Kylie’s, you can wear a colored shirt inside.
The statement piece doesn’t need to be a dark color. As Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner have proved, light colors such as beige and ivory work just as well.
#3: Fabric
Certain materials automatically make any color acceptable, no matter the season.
Wearing white for thick fabrics, such as a cashmere sweater or a fur vest, is more suitable for the colder fall and winter seasons than wearing white for thin fabrics, such as linen or silk.
Mixing different fabrics of white in the same outfit can also create a stylish look for the winter. On November 13, Kylie posted a picture of herself wearing a white dress with a white fur jacket to announce the third holiday collection for her makeup brand, Kylie Cosmetics.
